Some of the salient features of this temple are….
The Temple faces east with Balipeedam and Rishabam. Mollavar in the Sanctum is on a round avudayar. Dakshinamurthy is alone in the koshtam.
In the outer praharam, Vinayagar, Murugan, a dilapidated Sannidhi, Chandikeswarar, and Nagars. In addition, to the above Jyeshta Devi, Dakini, Kotravai / Mahaishasuramardini are in the form of bas-reliefs on flat stones installed on the east side of the temple.
Ambal is in a separate sannidhi in the ardha mandapam, facing south. A Balipeedam is installed in the outer praharam, facing Ambal Sannidhi. Ambal is in standing posture with abhaya varada hastam.
ARCHITECTURE
The whole temple was built with bricks. The temple was not built as per any temple architecture. The temple consists of Sanctum Sanctorum and Ardha mandapam. An Eka tala Vesara Vimanam is on the sanctum Sanctorum. There are no images in the Greeva koshtas. The ardha mandapam is of vavval nethi style.
A Small opening measuring 6 inches x 3 inches is on the east side wall. Usually, an opening or a jala will be provided in front of Rishabam, if no entrance is provided on the wall between Sanctum Sanctorum and Rishabam. Moreover, the temple will be kept closed after the poojas, by the priest. Naturally, if anybody comes for the darshan, they have to worship through this hole. Shiva Devotees make this a special feature of this temple.
HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
Based on the iconography of Jyeshta Devi, Chandikeswarar, and Kotravai, experts believe that the Original temple belong to Pallava Period ie the 07th to 08th century. The original bricks structure was maintained, and not much modification was carried out.
LEGENDS
It is believed that One Core Siddhars or saints did penance and installed in this forest. They also left sealed Palm manuscripts and invaluable treasures before Shiva and Ambal. Shiva in this temple. Hence this place is called Orukodi. It is believed that anybody who came and worship Shiva would get wealth and prosperity equivalent to Cores. Hence Shiva is called Kodi Kodutha Nathar.
Later, it is believed that manuscripts were obtained from the locked wall and golden manuscripts found disappeared. It is further believed that the Golden manuscripts are in the well. If a stone is dropped into the well, the stone-hitting metal sound will be heard. Ambal is called Olai Paditha Nayagi – ஓலை படித்த நாயகி- the ability to read manuscripts.

விழுப்புரத்தில் இருந்து திருக்கோவிலூர் வழித்தடத்தில் 8 கிமீ தொலைவில் உள்ளது
இந்தக் கோயிலின் தனிச்சிறப்பு, என்னவென்றால், ஒரு கோடி சித்தர்கள் வழிபட்ட ஆலயம் என பெயர் கொண்டதாகும். இந்த ஊரின் பெயரும் ஒரு கோடிதான். மேலும் இந்த அம்மனை, ஓலை படித்த நாயகி எனவும் அழைப்பார்கள்.
இக்கோயில் 2000 வருடங்களுக்கு மேல் பழமையானது எனவும், இந்த கோடி கொடுத்து நாதரை தரிசிக்க உலகிலேயே மிகச் சிறிய வாசல் கொண்ட கோயில் இதுவே ஆகும். கோயிலில் சிறிய துவாரம் வழியாகவே சிவலிங்கத்தை காண முடிகிறது. பூஜை செய்வதற்கு இன்னொரு வழி இருக்கிறது அதில் சென்றால் சிவலிங்கத்தை நேரில் காணலாம்
ஒரு கோடி சித்தர்கள் வந்து வழிபட்ட ஆலயம் இது. இந்த ஆலயத்திற்கு வந்து வழிபட்டால் நினைத்த காரியங்கள் நிச்சயமாக நடைபெறும் என்ற ஐதீகம் உண்டு.

முன்பதிவு செய்து நேரில் வந்தால் தான் ஜீவ நாடி வாசிக்கப்படும்.

*குறைந்த பட்ச கட்டணம் ரூ.1001*, ஒரு தட்டில் வெற்றிலை பாக்கு பழம் தேங்காய், பூ, ஊதுபத்தி, கற்பூரம் வைத்து கொடுக்க வேண்டும்.

தொலை பேசியில் பெயரை கூறி முன்பதிவு செய்ய வேண்டும்.

ஓரளவு புண்ணிய ஆத்மாக்களுக்கு மட்டும் நாடி வழி அருளுரைக்கப்படும். நாடியில் எழுத்துக்கள் வந்தே ஆக வேண்டும் என்று கட்டாயம் கிடையாது. சிலருக்கு நாடி வழி செய்தி வராமலும் போவதுண்டு.

பவுர்ணமி மற்றும் பண்டிகை நாட்களில் நாடி வாசிக்கப்பட மாட்டாது. காலை 10am - 1pm மட்டும் நாடி வாசிக்கப்படும். நாடி வாசிக்கும் போது தாய், தந்தை, மனைவி, குழந்தைகள் ஆகியோர் அருகில் அமர்லாம். நண்பர்கள் மற்றும் பிற உறவினர்கள் வந்தால், உடன் அமர அனுமதி கிடையாது. வெளியே காத்திருக்க வேண்டும். மது, புகை, மாமிசம் ஆகியவற்றை 1-2 நாள் முன்னதாகவே தவிர்த்துவிட வேண்டும், இல்லையேல் விளைவுகள் விபரீதம்.

நாடியில், உங்கள் பெயர், கும்பிடும் தெய்வம், குடும்ப விவரம், படிப்பு விவரம், இப்போது சந்திக்கும் பிரச்சனைகள் என்று கூறப்படும். பிறகு 5-6 கோவில்கள் சென்று வழிபடும் முறையுடன் பரிகாரம் கூறப்படும். அவைகளை மூன்று மாதத்திற்கு உள் செய்து திரும்பி வந்து, அதே முறையில் நாடியில் உறுதி செய்து கொள்ள வேண்டும்.

நாடியில் வரும் தகவல் புத்தகத்தில் எழுதி கொடுக்கப்படும். அதை பாதுகாப்பாக வைத்திருந்து மீண்டும் வரும் போது கொண்டு வர வேண்டும்.

மொபைல் போனில் நாடி வாசிப்பை பதிவு செய்து கொள்ளலாம். நாடி வாசிக்கும் போது விமானப் பயன்முறையில் தொலைபேசியை வைக்கவும்.

Jeeva Nadi will be read only if you make a reservation and come in person.

*Minimum fee Rs.1001*, a plate of betel nut, coconut, flowers, incense, and camphor should be served.

Reservations should be made by mentioning the name on the phone.

Only some pious souls will be blessed through Nadi. It is not mandatory that the letters should appear on the Nadi. Some people may not receive messages through Nadi.

Nadi will not be read on full moon and festival days. Nadi will be read only from 10am - 1pm. Mother, father, wife, and children can sit nearby while reading the Nadi. If friends and other relatives come, they are not allowed to sit with them. You have to wait outside. Alcohol, smoking, and meat should be avoided 1-2 days in advance, otherwise the consequences will be disastrous.

In the Nadi, your name, the deity you worship, family details, education details, and current problems will be mentioned. Then, the remedy will be given along with the method of worship by visiting 5-6 temples. They should be kept for three months and then come back and confirm the Nadi in the same manner.

The information that comes with the Nadi will be written in the book. Keep it safe and bring it when you come back.

You can record the Nadi reading on your mobile phone. Put the phone in airplane mode while reading the Nadi.
